1999年，《南方公园》在台湾被配上翻译字幕及语音，译名《南方四賤客》，由麦当杰担任监制，王华怡担任领班，配音版在播出七季後於2005年取消。并大量加入本土元素，每周六晚于Channel [V]播出，播出后广受好评。

《南方四賤客》取消後，播出综艺节目《我爱黑涩棒棒堂》（由《我爱黑涩会》及《模范棒棒堂》合并），并由此引发观众不满，他们呼吁“停播黑棒，还我南方！”。
